This restaurant renovation project is located in Chengdu, China. The owner wanted to build a distinctive restaurant that perfectly integrates rustic mountainnature aesthetics with modern diningconsumption experience. By adopting walldecor material with authentic white sandstone texture, the overall interior warmth, tactile quality and artistic style are enhanced, creating a relaxed, comfortable and welllayered dining atmosphere.

The design team aimed to break the limitations of conventional wall finishing for catering spaces, solving problems such as plain and monotonous wall surfaces, insufficient threedimensional depth and weak spatial ambiance. At the same time, it addresses the practical pain points of natural white sandstone: excessive weight imposing extra load on wall structures, complicated procedures for onsite cutting and tiling, high procurement cost for raw stone, as well as hidden risks of dust accumulation, water seepage and moisture retention in indoor environments.

After comparing various wallfinishing solutions including natural white sandstone, culture stone, ceramic tiles and realstone paint, PU White Sandstone was finally selected as the core decorative material for the restaurant’s feature wall. Adopting highprecision texturereproduction technology, it vividly restores the fine and soft natural sand grain of white sandstone, unique subtle uneven texture of rock and rich threedimensional layers of natural stone, perfectly reproducing the visual effect of genuine white sandstone. Lightweight and flexible, it supports fast dryinstallation. Apart from the main restaurant feature wall, it is also suitable for multiple functional catering zones such as privateroom walls, corridor facades and reception feature walls.

The soft and delicate sandstone texture matched with mild light base tone infuses the space with strong rustic charm. PU White Sandstone complements wood paneling, rattan dining chairs, fabric pendant lamps and soft ambient lighting, jointly creating an elegant, soothing and atmospheric dining environment. The largearea continuouslylaid sandstone cladding enriches the horizontal layers of the wall, forming a highly recognizable indoor visual focal point without occupying usable indoor space.

Upon project completion, the restaurant presents a natural, rustic and welllayered spatial effect. PU White Sandstone fully realizes the owner’s aesthetic vision for natural sandstone walls, while avoiding various drawbacks of raw natural stone: heavy weight, inconvenient transportation and handling, cumbersome onsite processing, high overall cost, together with dust buildup and moisture retention after longterm use.
