This boutique hotel interior renovation project is located in Barcelona, Spain. The hotel owner wanted to create a public space that combines natural rustic charm with contemporary understated luxury. The distinctive cracked-rock texture of natural crack stone was introduced to the fireplace and lounge walls in the hotel lobby, creating a relaxed and soothing atmosphere with a strong sense of natural artistry while establishing a distinctive visual identity for the hotel.

The design team aimed to reproduce the authentic aesthetic of natural crack stone while avoiding the common drawbacks of natural stone, including excessive weight and high structural load requirements, complicated handling and installation of large stone pieces, high material costs, and the tendency to accumulate dust and moisture in high-traffic interior environments, making maintenance more difficult. The project ultimately selected PU Crack Stone as the primary wall finish for the fireplace wall and lounge feature walls.

PU Crack Stone uses high-precision mold replication technology to realistically reproduce the irregular cracked surfaces, natural gaps, and rugged texture of natural crack stone. The soft transitions of the light beige tones and staggered arrangement of the stone pieces create rich, three-dimensional depth across the walls, faithfully recreating the organic appearance of natural rock while retaining the lightweight advantages of PU construction. This makes it an efficient wall-cladding solution for hotel public-area renovations.

The design team applied PU Crack Stone extensively to the full fireplace feature wall, corner columns, and lounge walls. The rugged stone texture is paired with a built-in fireplace, wood finishes, track lighting, and greenery. The natural stone aesthetic blends seamlessly with contemporary hotel furnishings, creating a space that feels both earthy and refined. When the spotlights illuminate the uneven cracked textures, they create rich contrasts of light and shadow, breaking up the monotony of large wall surfaces and enhancing the warm, relaxed atmosphere around the fireplace. This gives guests an immersive natural spatial experience.

Compared with natural crack stone, PU Crack Stone significantly reduces overall weight, eliminating the need for additional wall reinforcement and helping lower structural renovation costs. It can be easily cut on site to accommodate complex structures such as fireplace corners and columns, without complicated wet construction processes. This shortens the hotel renovation schedule and helps minimize losses caused by temporary closure.

The material is moisture-resistant and stain-resistant, while its textured surface is less prone to trapping dirt, making daily maintenance simple and practical for high-traffic areas such as hotel lobbies. After completion, the fireplace and lounge walls achieved a naturally weathered cracked-rock appearance.
